Occupational First Aid Level 1

Level 1 First Aid TrainingA one day program designed to prepare the worker for a variety of first aid emergencies . All scenarios practiced are workplace oriented. Successful candidates will receive the Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate.


Transportation Endorsement (TE)

Transportation EndorsementA one day course designed for the Level 1 or Level 2 ticket holder, teaching how to move and transport injured workers to medical aid. Skills include applying hard collars, packaging the patient on a spine board in the preferred position for transport. Successful candidates will receive the Worksafe BC Transportation Endorsement certificate.


Oxygen Therapy

Oxygen Therapy CourseA  4 hour  Worksafe BC program designed for the Level 1 or Level 2 ticket holder, teaching about safe use, storage and handling of oxygen. The student will also learn how and when to safely insert an oral airway for unconscious patients.  Successful candidates will receive an Oxygen Therapy certificate.


Occupational First Aid Level 2

OFA Level 2 AirwayThis 36 hour (1 week) course is designed to provide advanced lifesaving skills to workers in industry that have quick access by the BC Ambulance service. Successful candidates will receive the Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate.


Occupational First Aid Level 3

OFA Level 3This 70 hour (usually held over 2 weeks or sometimes as an evening/weekend class) course prepares the student for employment as an Occupational First Aid Attendant. The student will receive advanced lifesaving techniques as well as becoming fast and efficient to prepare a patient for transport to medical aid (including helicopter transport). The successful candidate will receive the Worksafe BC Occupational first aid Level 3 certificate.


Occupational First Aid Level 3 Renewal

OFA Level 3This 36 hour (one week) course is for Level 3 ticket holders who are due to renew their certification. The course is recommended for those students who have held their ticket for many years and feel comfortable with the material as well as having had actual practice using their Level 3 ticket at workplace (having done real patient care). The successful candidate will receive the Worksafe BC Occupational first aid Level 3 certificate.


Global Medical Services AED programs

Automated Defibrillator course and recertifications

AEDLifesavers offers this program to target workplaces requiring defibrillator certification for their employees. Group training to a maximum of 12 per session can be accommodated . The course includes either a CPR C or HCP level as it is tailored to suit the needs of the trained level of attendant at the workplace. Target groups for training include: First Aid Attendants, Firehalls , and anyone looking for a more comprehensive  and professional defibrillator course. Successful candidates receive Global Medical AED certificates.

S-100 Fire Suppression

S100 Fire SuppressionUpon successful completion of the course, the candidate will demonstrate a basic knowledge of wildland fire suppression organization structure, wild fire behavior, plus suppression and safety procedures. Practical skills with equipment used in BC to effectively and safely respond to wildfires is a mandatory component for initial ticket holders. Successful candidates will receive the Ministry of Forests S-100 Fire Suppression certificate.

S-185 Fire Entrapment

S100 Fire SuppressionUpon completion of the S-185 course, the participant will be able to size up and evaluate potential fire entrapment situations and how to act accordingly to remove himself or herself safely from a potentially risky situation, deploy the necessary resources using safe and efficient strategies and tactics to prevent loss of life. The S-185 is a requirement for people who are employed to fight fires (e.g. contract fire fighters, emergency firefighters).

H2S Alive

H2S Alive GearThis one day course is intended for all workers in the petroleum industry who could be exposed to hydrogen sulphide. The students will learn detection and protection of H2S gas, rescue techniques and rescue breathing. Successful students will receive an H2S Alive certificate issued by ENFORM.


WHMIS  Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information SystemThis 3 hour workshop provides education about controlled products (poisonous materials) in the workplace using Worksafe BC manuals and instructional material. Successful candidates will receive a WHMIS certificate and be reminded about their employers responsibility to provide the annual onsite job specific training.


TDG Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Transportation of Dangerous GoodsThis course is required for workers who handle dangerous goods including those that load or unload shipments and anyone who will be transporting the dangerous goods to their final destination. The students will receive a Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate that will be valid when signed by both employee and employer


Bear/Cougar Aware

Bear/Cougar AwareThis workshop prepares the students for potential bear/cougar encounters. Prevention strategies and learning about bear/cougar behavior will assist students to stay safe while working in wildlife habitat. Successful student will receive a Bear/Cougar aware certificate upon successful complete.




Canadian Red Cross programs

Leadership/Instructor programs

Canadian Red Cross InstructorLifesavers offers the Canadian Red Cross Instructors program, Instructor Transfer program, Instructor upgrades and recertification. Training is facilitated by certified Canadian Red Cross Instructor Trainers. Successful candidates will receive an instructor certificate issued by the Canadian Red Cross.



Standard First Aid

Standard First AidThis two day program includes all of the content learned in the Emergency First Aid program. Additional topics include: head and spine  injuries, bone, muscle and joint injuries, wound care, sudden medical emergencies and environmental emergencies. SFA includes a CPR C level. This course also meets Community Care Licensing.


Emergency First Aid

Emergency First AidThis one day course provides general first aid knowledge for how to recognize, treat and prevent airway, breathing and circulatory emergencies. EFA includes a CPR C level. This course does meet Community Care Licensing.



Emergency Childcare (previously called  Childsafe)

Childcare CourseThis one day program teaches caregivers how to assess, treat and prevent emergencies specifically focused on the infant, child and adolescent ages. This program is recognized by Community Care Licensing to meet standards for Childcare facilities and Daycares. (EFA and SFA are also recognized by Licensing.) Successful candidates receive the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Childcare certificate.  Emergency Childcare includes a CPR B level.


Babysitters Course

Babysitting CourseThis course was designed to give young people the necessary tools to be responsible babysitters; keeping children in their care safe and happy. Topics covered include learning about the different developmental stages of children and the skills required to care for them:  infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. The babysitter will learn techniques for behavioural problems as well as how to handle emergencies and understand basic first aid skills. They will also complete the program with new ideas of how to entertain the children in their care with games and fun activities. Successful candidates will receive a participation card and pocket sized first aid kit.

Stay Safe Course

Stay SafeUpon the completion of this program, each child should be able to:

  • Follow safety rules when alone
  • Stay safe at home and in the community
  • Prepare for, recongize and respond to unexpected situations (e.g. stangers, inclement weather)
  • Understand the basics of first aid procedures including how to help others if they are choking.

CPR Programs: CPR C, and HCP

CPRA variety of CPR courses are available from basic to professional level. CPR A focuses on adult resuscitation only.  CPR C is focused on adult, child and infant resuscitation. HCP is a Health Care Professional level which adds the skills of practicing bag valve mask use and two rescuer CPR skills. All successful candidates will be issued Canadian Red Cross CPR certificates. All levels of CPR courses have Recertification courses available and come with AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification
